Tendring District Council Launch New Waste Collection Scheme
Tendring District Council are launching a new waste collection scheme in an effort to reduce litter on residential streets and promote recycling.
Wheelie bins are to be introduced to replace the black plastic sacks currently distributed to residents for free. The bins, which are large at 180 litres each, will be collected fortnightly.
Recycling collections are to remain the same, happening weekly alongside food waste collection. The red and green boxes will alternate, however.
Bank holidays
Some very welcome news, announced with the new wheelie bins, is that bank holiday collections will now take place. In the past, the bank holiday has been observed by the waste collections by the council. However, this has caused disruption, so the funds have been made available for bank holiday waste collections to begin in 2019.
Non-collection days still in force
Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year will still cause delays to normal waste collection timetables. Follow your new collection calendar that will arrive with your new wheelie bin and you’ll be fine.
(All collections return to normal week commencing Monday 14th January 2019.)
Will you be getting a new wheelie bin?
Every property in the district has been assessed by the council for its appropriateness to receive a wheelie bin. Some properties with no front or side access will still have weekly black sack collections; many flats will also see no changes made to their waste collection arrangements.
Check the Tendring District Council website to see if your property will be receiving a new wheelie bin, or if your collections will not be changed.
